FALLBROOK — Student council elections at Live Oak School were held on Friday, October 10. Sixth grade teacher Steven Stillman, a.k.a. “Uncle Sam,” officiated.
“This being an election year we felt it was the perfect opportunity to teach our students about elections, voting procedures and how important it is to have the freedom and the right to vote,” said assistant principal Stephenie Martinez.
Nominees conducted their campaigns using posters, campaign stickers and buttons. Students voted in separate voting booths, the ballots were scanned by computer and all who participated received “I voted” stickers.
This was an opportunity for students to learn about democracy and the election process.
