Holiday happenings in historic downtown Fallbrook

FALLBROOK- Enjoy a variety of holiday activities, suitable for the entire family, in downtown Fallbrook this season. Local merchants, the Chamber of Commerce, and organizations continue to work on efforts to provide a variety of opportunities sure to delight everyone – from children to seniors!

Mark your calendar for these holiday events:

Nov. 29 – Fallbrook Woman’s Club presents Photos with Santa from 9 a.m. to noon at 238 West Mission Road. Get two photos taken by Ahrend Studios in the Club’s historic Side Loading Carriage (circa 1872) for $10.

Nov. 29 – Visit with Santa in the Village Square (Main & Alvarado), watch the community tree lighting, enjoy holiday caroling by members of the Fallbrook Chorale, and horse and buggy rides. Event runs 4 to 7 p.m. and is sponsored by merchants in the historic downtown district.

Dec. 5 – Customer Appreciate Night, 4 to 7 p.m., sponsored by merchants in historic downtown area. Horse and buggy rides down Main Avenue. Visit individual shops for their unique appreciation festivities.

Dec. 6 – Father Christmas will visit with members of the community in ‘Dickens Village’ (Jackson Square, 100 block of North Main) from noon until 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served. No cost. Families should bring their own cameras to snap photographs.

Dec. 6 – Annual Fallbrook Christmas Parade takes place beginning at 5 p.m. Procession begins on Ammunition Road and proceeds northbound on Main Avenue to Ivy Street. Parade features marching bands, floats, special guests, and more. Sponsored by the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce.

Dec. 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19 – Carolers dressed in Dickens-theme attire will sing holiday songs in and near ‘Dickens Village’ (Jackson Square). Visit the unique shops in Jackson Square and be transported back in time to the Victorian era.

Dec. 12 – Open House at Jackson Square’s new Ticky-Boo Tea Shoppe, a Victorian mercantile. Visit this new shop, meet owner Stefeni Engebritson, browse for gifts, and enjoy how the square has been transformed into ‘Dicken’s Village’ for the holiday season.

Dec. 12 – Gent’s Shopping Evening & Repast at Tickey-Boo Tea Shoppe, 6 p.m.

Dec. 13 – Teddy Bear Tea in the ‘Dicken’s Village’ at Courtyard Café & Tea Room. Reservations needed (760/451-2343); $37 per person; seatings at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own teddy bear to join in the festivities as well as a donation of a stuffed animal to be given to a children’s hospital. Personal visit from Ted E. Bear is scheduled. Tea food will carry a distinct bear theme.

Dec. 13 – Holiday Gift Walk, 4 to 7 p.m., organized by the Fallbrook Area Visitors Bureau.

Dec. 20 – Christmas Tea with Father Christmas from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Reservations needed; call for cost 760/451-2343.

CLASSES – Learn how to create beautiful holiday home décor and gifts yourself. A variety of classes are being offered at Chattel’s (451-3310) and At Home On Main (728-9892). Call for more information and cost.
