Youth wrestling signups Nov. 18

FALLBROOK — The local USA Wrestling Chartered Club, Relentless Wrestling, will be hosting a parents’ meeting and club signups on November 18 at 7 p.m. in the high school wrestling room.

The upcoming season is for kids 5 to 14 years old. The kids will be competing in divisions that match them up by weight and age so they will always be competing with someone who is within two years of age and five pounds in weight.

Wrestling is a way for children to learn the value of hard work, discipline, self-control and camaraderie and have fun. This year the youth team is fortunate to have Andrew Rodriguez join the program as the new head coach. He brings a wealth of experience as a former high school wrestler and successful Fallbrook Pop Warner coach.

Relentless Wrestling has produced numerous San Diego Imperial Kids Wrestling Association (SDIKWA) champions as well as trained athletes for the high school wrestling program.

Practices will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. in the high school wrestling room.

There is a $50 registration fee which includes a club shirt.

The Fallbrook Wrestling Association, which governs the club, is a nonprofit organization that exists solely to promote and support the sport of wrestling in the community of Fallbrook. As a result, all of the coaches and staff are volunteers.

The club is also seeking additional volunteers to help coach and officiate at the tournaments and with fundraising. For more information, contact Coach Rodriguez at (714) 225-5696 or Bonnie Wagaman at (760) 473-5203.
