Taylors celebrate 65th wedding anniversary

LeRoy (Lee) Taylor and his wife, Barbara, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on September 12, 2008.

The couple was married on September 12, 1943, in Morris Chapel on the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA, where Barbara was a student.

Lee was serving as a lieutenant in the US Navy at the time and later worked as a mechanical engineer for 30 years at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, CA.

A graduate of the California Maritime Academy, Lee holds a BA degree in mechanical engineering and recently attended his 65th CMA class reunion. He is also a Life-Member of the Vallejo Yacht Club, where he served as commodore.

Barbara is a graduate of UOP with a BA in speech/drama and also holds a Master of Arts degree from San Francisco State University in special education. She was the director of a high school parenting program in Vallejo before her retirement.

She was honored by Governor Pete Wilson with a California State “Crystal Star” award for her work in advancing the status of women.

The couple celebrated their anniversary with a week in Oahu, HI, as well as with a three-day stay at the Disneyland Hotel.

Barbara and Lee have lived in Fallbrook since the year 2000 and are members of Christ The King Lutheran Church. They have two children and three grandchildren.
