Volunteers needed for SOF work parties

Fallbrook’s Save Our Forest (SOF) organization, a division of the Fallbrook Land Conservancy, has maintained downtown trees on a volunteer basis for more than 12 years.

The key to the success of the program is volunteers who are willing to spend an hour or two per month at “work parties” in which basic pruning and other tree care is performed.

These are held on the third Wednesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. and the last Sunday of each month at 7:30 a.m.

Volunteers are presently needed for this work, which offers light exercise, an opportunity to meet some fine SOF members and the satisfaction of performing a valuable community service. No experience is needed and all tools and supplies are provided.

“Tree stewards” are also needed to water trees on an entirely flexible schedule.

Anyone interested in volunteering can call Jackie Heyneman at (760) 728-5395.
