Students explore science at San Onofre

SAN ONOFRE — The media center at San Onofre School was converted to an interactive, hands-on science museum as eighth-graders presented their projects during the Exploratorium on January 21.

The one-day event allowed lower grade level students to learn physical science concepts as eighth-graders explained and demonstrated working models of various topics.

Now in its 11th year, the annual event requires students to demonstrate higher level understanding and competency needed to teach to others.

Some of the interactive lessons included a chemical reactions station, a slime lab, the Tornado Machine, a giant bubble tub and a static electricity generator.

While the younger students were able to benefit from the program during the morning session, an evening parent session allowed further interactions and participation from community members.
