Jessie Ruth Abbott

Jessie Ruth Abbott, 84, died at Life Care Center Escondido on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, after a long illness. She was born in Ponder, TX, in 1924 and was a child of the “Great Depression.”

She was the wife of a WWII veteran. She was a resident of Fallbrook for 68 years and a member of the Fallbrook United Methodist Church since 1959. In past years she worked at the Fallbrook Citrus Association and was a member of the Fallbrook Gem & Mineral Society.

Besides being a mother and wife, Jessie loved singing, listening to country music, teaching Sunday school, camping, fishing and sports. She liked cooking and baking.

Survivors are her daughter Margaret Ruth Doll of Riverside; sister Mary Ross of Escondido; grandsons Rick Tordoff of Corona, Anthony and Alan Doll of Riverside and Jason Abbott of Escondido; great-grandchildren Stephanie and Eric Manion, Misty Tordoff, Richard Tordoff, Jr., Jimmy Lawrence, Michael and Marcus Moore and Gavin Abbott; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 10, at Berry-Bell & Hall Mortuary. Pastor Dennis Ginoza of the Methodist Church officiated. Internment was at the Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery.
