Fallbrook CROP Walk this Sunday, March 29

Everyone is asked to set aside a few hours on Sunday, March 29, to walk for the hungry in this community and the world.

Starting at 1:30 p.m., the 5K (3.2-mile) walk will take about one hour and 20 minutes.

Over the last 10 years, Fallbrook has raised $560,000, making it the leader on the West Coast. Twenty-five percent of the funds raised remains in town.

The Fallbrook Food Pantry gave out 80,000 meals last year. For the size of the town, that also makes it a leader in serving those that are in need. Organizers are impressed and grateful for the concern and care in being a Community Responding to Overcome Poverty (CROP).

Church World Service has been active since 1947 and today is giving relief in more than 80 countries. Walkers have a choice of designating their contributions to any of 19 other agencies to help those in need. There is no registration fee for the walk but it is hoped that each person will raise $100.

Those who bring in at least $50 donations will receive a free t-shirt.

There will be music, food, fun and fellowship.

Registration begins a 1 p.m. at Fallbrook Food Pantry, 1042 South Mission.
