Motorcyclist injured on Old Hwy 395

FALLBROOK — According to the California Highway patrol (CHP), on March 27 at approximately 2:12 p.m. Fredrick Vandeusen, 64, of Oceanside, was riding a 2009 Harley Davidson Sportster southbound on Old Hwy 395 at 25 mph on the right shoulder. Carlos Delapaz, 22, of Fallbrook, was driving a 2004 Toyota Celica northbound on Old Hwy 395, at 5 mph, turning left onto Reche Road. As the Celica made its turn, Vandeusen changed lanes to the left into the southbound lane and collided with the right side of the Celica. Vandeusen was transported to Palomar Medical Center via Mercy Air and treated for major head trauma. Delapaz was not injured. It is unknown if alcohol/drugs were factors in this collision, officers said. Old Hwy 395 was closed for approximately two hours to remove vehicles and investigate the collision.
