Kallauses celebrate 60th anniversary

Surrounded by family and friends, Roland and Florene Kallaus of Fallbrook celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 4 with a dinner at the San Luis Rey Downs Golf Resort in Bonsall.

The Kallauses moved to Fallbrook from the Sacramento area in 2002 to be closer to their daughter. Roland is a retired high school science teacher and Florene is a homemaker. Originally from Kansas, the Kallauses have made California their home for the past 45 years. They have two children and six grandchildren.

Their anniversary celebration was made extra special by the appearance of an important person from their past. Rev. Calvin Schmid, retired Navy Chaplain from San Diego, performed his first wedding ceremony 60 years ago when he married Roland and Florene in Hudson, KS. He attended the dinner with his daughter, Celeste, and delivered the evening’s invocation.
