Historic designation proclamation

It is with great pleasure and pride that my new responsibilities as the Honorary Mayor of Fallbrook allow me the privilege of recognizing those who have dedicated years to working on the project of honoring and preserving Fallbrook’s heritage and history.

I was a board member of the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce when Tom Casey introduced to us his ‘Historic Initiative’ in early 2007 and now, with the assistance of the Fallbrook Historical Society and others, Saturday was designated Historic Fallbrook Day throughout San Diego County by our board of supervisors.

It is selfless citizens such as Mr. Casey and Bruce Dennett from the Historical Society who care enough about respecting the remarkable fabric and character of our neighborhoods to ensure future generations can recognize the roots on which this beautiful town was built.

The designation of these buildings and the downtown district as historic will bestow value to the longevity of times past in this community and will help to strengthen the bond we feel toward the town we all know and love: Fallbrook.

So, I ask you all to please make a moment when you can to show appreciation to Mr. Casey, the Fallbrook Historical Society and Supervisor Bill Horn for taking the time to ensure our town’s rich history is as revered as its future.

Gail Martin
