Fallbrook VFW to honor America's teachers

FALLBROOK — Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1924 and the Ladies Auxiliary want to identify and recognize the best local educators who instill a sense of national pride in students.

“We know that teachers care deeply about America and its children,” said Anne Richter. “They’re concerned about the perpetuation of America’s noblest traditions and highest ideals.”

The VFW is now accepting entries from the public for teachers in grades K through 12. Deadline is November 1.

Entry forms for the National Citizenship Education Teacher Award are available at http://www.vfw.org.

Submitters are to fill out the nomination form and, in 350 words or less, describe why he feels his nominee should be selected. Describe the teacher’s innovative teaching and resource methods as well as his or her dedication to education.

Teachers who promote civic responsibility, flag etiquette and patriotism are prime candidates for this award.

Entries should be mailed to VFW Post 1924, Attn: Anne Richter, 1175 Old Stage Road, Fallbrook, CA 92028.
