Find another place for the mine

Kudos to Marilee Ragland for a wonderful synopsis in her letter to the editor [Village News issue, November 12, 2009] regarding the open pit mine to be developed at the l-15 entrance and exit to Rainbow. The issues are clear. Do we want this beautiful and pristine area destroyed or do we want to preserve this land?

It’s time to become aware of our impact upon the environment. Let’s take another longterm, healthier view towards maintaining this beautiful Southern California area.

Surely a more appropriate place can be found for the mining of aggregate that would satisfy both Riverside County’s desire for additional taxes and ecological preservation of the land. Other alternatives must be possible.
