On November 8, 2009, at 12:08 a.m., Raelynn Sandberg was born to Ryan and Ashten Sandberg at Fort Hood, Killeen, Texas. Ryan Sandberg, former Fallbrook High School student-athlete, joined the army in 2008 and met his wife Ashten while they were both in Advanced Infantry Training at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas. Their joy was a welcome distraction to the great tragedy experienced days before at Fort Hood.
