Outraged that vehicles were towed during parade

I would like to express my personal outrage at what appears to be a first for the Fallbrook Christmas Parade. The manager of our newest drug store in Fallbrook decided to have cars parked in his lot on Dec. 5 towed out. Our local tow yard decided to charge over $300 to owners to retrieve their vehicles, towed only a few blocks. A few of the vehicles that were towed belonged to volunteers who worked in the parade staging area.

I understand that it is within the legal right of any business to have a vehicle towed if signs are posted prohibiting unauthorized parking in their lot. However, each year, over 30,000 people have been viewing the parade, many coming from out of town. This affects the entire downtown area from north to south. Some merchants rope off their lots or post attendants to prevent “unauthorized” parking. All the downtown businesses must tolerate this each year during the annual Christmas parade. No business has ever been mean-spirited enough to actually call a tow truck. Ironically, the theme for the parade this year was “A Friendly Village Christmas.”

The manager of this store needs to get a better feel for what this community is all about. This isn’t Los Angeles. It’s a small town community. A little patience and tolerance is needed on the first Saturday of every December.
