Elizabeth "Betty" Jane Cochran

It is with much sorrow that we announce the loss of our loving mother and special friend, Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Cochran. Betty passed away peacefully at home in Tustin, Calif. on January 4, 2010, at the young age of 88 after courageously battling breast cancer for many years. She was fittingly and affectionately referred to by her doctor as “Ms. Tenacious.”

Betty was born November 4, 1921, in Los Angeles, Calif. to Elizabeth and Earl Hill. She was preceded in death by her adoring husband of 57 years, Colonel William F. Cochran, USAF. Bill and Betty were long time residents of Fallbrook, Calif.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving daughter, Joanne (William) Smith and son William P. (Thai) Cochran; grandchildren Mark, David and Ryan Stomp, William W. Cochran, Jennifer Miller and Kinetha Cochran; great-grandchildren Miranda, Nolan and Kelsey Stomp, and William B. and Brett Cochran. Betty is also survived by her brother-in-law Donald Cochran and sisters-in-law Sue Cochran and BJ Cochran.

Betty was a true military wife; courageous, understanding, and unflappable. Whatever the circumstance, whatever the demands, and wherever life would take us, she was there. Betty was a devoted wife and mother who provided a loving and happy home for her family. “Home” was where our mom was!

A special Mass will be held at Saint Cecilia’s Catholic Church, 1301 Sycamore Avenue, Tustin, Calif. on Friday, January 22, 2010, at 11 am. Reception will follow at a site to be determined.

“May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you.”
