McMeeking featured quilt artist on Feb. 4

FALLBROOK - The Feb. 4 meeting of the Fallbrook Quilt Guild will feature the work of Norah McMeeking. Her quilt designs are inspired by the unique designs of the marble floors of Italy. McMeeking notes, “It can be easy to miss what’s under our feet, but not in the case of the fabulous marble floors of Italy, which lend themselves to stunning patchwork.”

This slide lecture and trunk show is based on McMeeking’s book, Bella Bella Quilts: Stunning Designs from Italian Mosaics. The book examines these multifaceted designs and, using simple techniques, puts them within reach of most quilters.

McMeeking will also conduct a two-day workshop on Feb. 5 and 6. This workshop will feature construction of St. Mark’s wall hanging. Feb. 5 covers the many design options for this pattern, preparation for foundation piecing and foundation piecing. Feb. 6 covers curved seam piecing, assembly, and machine applique.

To sign up for this workshop contact Carol Carpenter at (760) 728-9494.
