Bongiovanni honored by Camp Pendleton

CAMP PENDLETON - Jane Bongiovanni, a member of the Fallbrook Woman’s Club, was recently honored as Volunteer of the Year at the 2009 Armed Services YMCA Program for the Camp Pendleton Branch. Bongiovanni was honored for her coordination of the “Rockin’ with Santa” Christmas party for 208 Operation Hero students, and for providing gifts for preschool students and adopted junior enlisted families during Christmas.

Under the auspices of the Fallbrook Woman’s Club, Bongiovanni volunteered more than 550 hours and raised more than $48,600. She was presented with an American flag that has flown over Camp Pendleton and a plaque honoring her service. She also received letters of commendation from Frank Gallo, RAADM, USN, national executive director of the Armed Services YMCA, and Nicholas P. Marano, Colonel, USMC, Commanding Officer, Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton.
