Local girls raise money for Haiti

FALLBROOK - Charity Sue Riggs, 10, and Machaela Munoz, 10, friends at Iowa Street School, decided that they wanted to do something to help the people of Haiti.

So one afternoon they began to collect pennies from their friends and relatives and even some strangers that came into their mothers’ businesses. Before they knew it they had collected $124.34. They are mailing in a check, this week, to the Red Cross Haiti Relief Effort.

“We were asking for pennies and people started putting in larger change and then $1’s and $5’s and $10’s. People really want to be able to do something to help. This was an easy way to give and we thank everyone who contributed,” said Charity Sue and Machaela.
