Ronald "Ron" Curtis Neeley

Longtime Fallbrook resident and businessman, Ronald “Ron” Curtis Neeley passed away Friday, March 19, 2010, from injuries resulting from a traffic accident.

Ron Neeley was born Dec. 3, 1957 in North Carolina, and moved with his family to Fallbrook in 1969 when his father John, a Marine, was transferred to Camp Pendleton.

As a youth, Ron Neeley was active in several sports, and later in his young adult years, he became an avid supporter of motor racing of every type. His passion was primarily for Drag Racing, a sport in which he participated, that took him to racing facilities all over the western United States.

After high school, Ron Neeley continued to hone his skills as a mechanic, and in the mid-1980s, he opened Ron Neeley Automotive in downtown Fallbrook.

By the early 1990s, Ron Neeley had curtailed his own drag racing program to devote more time to his growing business, which had also become the Fallbrook-based AAA Contract Towing Center. In 2007, Ron Neeley Towing earned the prestigious AAA Contract Station of the Year award for all of Southern California. It was an honor that Ron Neeley was proud to have earned.

For many years, even after leaving competitive racing, Ron Neeley continued to support youth sports in Fallbrook, and was a sponsor for several oval-track, off-road, Demolition Derby and drag racing teams.

Ron Neeley’s father, John Neeley, Sr., and his brother, John Neeley, Jr., preceded him in death.

His wife, Cynthia; his mother, Annie Kennedy Neeley; his sister, Patsi Anderson; stepchildren Joshua Hargrove and wife Christa, and Justin Hargrove, all of Fallbrook survive Ron Neeley. He is also survived by three nieces and two nephews, Nora ElleAnn Anderson and Amber Yoder of Fallbrook and Breana Luke of Temecula, and nephews Logan Beck of Fallbrook and Josh Luke of Temecula.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 911 E. Elder St., in Fallbrook, with Pastor Stan Wujek officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ron Neeley Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Cynthia Neeley and/or Patsi Anderson, at P.O. Box 856, Fallbrook, Calif. 92088.
