St. Stephens' students participate in academic fine arts festival

FALLBROOK – On Saturday, April 24, 28 students from St. Stephens Lutheran School participated in the Academic & Fine Arts Festival held at California Lutheran High School. The students competed in music, forensics, math, and a spelling bee.

St. Stephens was very well represented in all these areas by hard working students, and was awarded the Annual Spelling Bee Trophy for the fourth time in the past five years. The trophy is on display in the school office. Following is a list of the festival categories, awards, and St. Stephens’ individual students and groups that earned them.

Music: Superior – Mila Beentjes, Jolie Beentjes; Good – Natalie Weber, April Paulson; Excellent – Lucy Matteucci, Samuel Olson, Trevor Walsh, Leah Rosenow/ Lucy Matteuci/ Kati Aguilar.

Forensics: Superior – Maddie Ries; Excellent – Adam Hussman, Lucy Matteucci, Natalie Weber, Katie Zimdars, Kati Aguilar, Samuel Olson, Mila Beentjes, Jolie Beentjes, April Paulson; Good – Madison Hull, Sammy Zimdars; Excellent – Bo Stockbridge, Malaki Dunn.

Math: Superior - Leah Rosenow, Nick Stockbridge; Excellent – Joseph Nash, Anna Alvarado, Jonny Zimdars; Good – Wesley Aguilar, Mason Hull, Andrew Zimdars; Satisfactory – Taylor Faust.

Spelling Bee: First Place – Jacob Rowan (second grade), Natalie Weber (fourth grade), Kati Aguilar (fifth grade); Second Place – Adam Hussman (eighth grade); Third Place – Gavin Weber (first grade); Fifth Place – Leah Rosenow (sixth grade), Seventh Place – Bo Stockbridge (third grade).
