Maultsby signs with Univ. of Pacific

STOCKTON – University of the Pacific head field hockey coach Linda MacDonald has announced the signing of Melissa Maultsby of Fallbrook to the 2010 Pacific team.

Maultsby will join the Tiger class of 2014.

Maultsby scored 25 goals including indoor and 7 v 7 tournaments in her final season at Fallbrook High School, finishing her high school field hockey career with 10 assists. She started two seasons for the Lady Warriors and participated in two Futures and a regional Futures tournament, as well as two Cal Cup and Festival tournaments.

The two-time Honorable Mention Avocado League member also earned the Outstanding Sportsmanship designation from the San Diego Field Hockey officials and helped her team to a CIF semi-final appearance.

Maultsby is heavily active in her community, participating in FFA and Relay for Life, an event held by the American Cancer Society.

She was a utility player on the softball team and plans to pursue a career in physical education.

“I have seen a dramatic transformation in Melissa over the past two years,” said MacDonald. “She has developed into a top player with the ability to play anywhere on the field. She has good skills and athleticism.”
