FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook High School varsity boys golf team started the season “with their backs against the wall as three of the five teams in our league were ranked high in the state standings,” said assistant coach Ken Adams. “Last year’s state champion, this year’s C.I.F. champions, and a third heading to the state finals again. Not to be detoured, the Warriors managed a tie with one of the teams, eventually losing in a card off.”
The Warriors lost to the defending state champions by four, and finished the season with 10 wins and 10 losses.
Heading into the post season, the Warriors posted a fine showing in the league championship.
“Team members Garet Johnson, Seth Jorde, Roman Rogers, Lloyd Ewers, Blake Burley, Braeden Koran, and Zach Kramer took on all challengers without batting an eye,” explained Adams.
At the season end, with the C.I.F. tournament completed, performances by Seth Jorde and Lloyd Ewers were very encouraging, Adams said.
“Jorde, a sophomore, missed advancing to the state tournament by two strokes, shooting, 78/74, while Ewers made the cut and played into day two of the C.I.F. with Seth,” said Adams.
Looking into the future, the Warriors will be returning with five golfers for the 2011 season.
