Summer blessings

As my partner and I began our first lazy days of summer watching children frolic in the yard without a care in the world, we became aware of the sound of the helicopters from our neighbors at Camp Pendleton passing overhead. For many, the sound of these flying machines is an annoyance. To us, it is a comforting reminder of the many men and women who have selflessly chosen a life of service to our country.

As we all celebrate our freedom this Fourth of July, let us not forget those who have made it possible. We are two proud Americans.
