Adults needed for mentoring program

FALLBROOK – With school about to begin next month, the GANAS Group Mentor Program is looking for adults interested in mentoring students, once a week at apartment complexes or meeting locations in Fallbrook.

The mentor commits to meeting once a week for 90 minutes for 12 weeks per mentoring cycle with a group of 10 mentees ages 9 to 14 years old. Mentors are positive and supportive and try to develop relationships of trust and respect. The mentor will complete an initial training session and be fingerprinted.

The goal of the GANAS Group Mentoring Program is to help students make good choices in life, finish high school and continue on with their education. This is a non-profit, volunteer organization.

For more information, interested adults are invited to meet with current mentors to discuss the program on Wednesday, August 25 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Farmhouse Coffee Shop (Mission Road and Fallbrook St.). Call Peggy Scudder at (760) 451-2215 or Pat Braendel at (760) 731-9127 with any questions.
