Fallbrook Food Pantry Needs Your Help

Summer is here, and once again donations to the Fallbrook Food Pantry have dropped dramatically while demand for assistance continues to soar. We are currently helping over 600 low-income families each week. Of those we help, fifty percent are children and thirty-five percent are senior citizens.

Is the recession over or not? That can be debated, but the reality is one person out of ten is unemployed. Taking that into consideration and adding the number of people who are underemployed, the demand for our help will continue throughout 2010.

Our mission at the Food Pantry is to assist individuals in our community who are in need by providing an adequate and nutritious supply of food. We are committed to ensuring that no one in our community will suffer the misery, health problems and despair caused by hunger.

A generous donor in our community has offered to match any donation from a family or individual sent to the Fallbrook Food Pantry during August, up to an aggregate of $5,000.

Please help by donating canned or dried foods, fresh fruits or vegetables; making a cash donation specifying “Matching Contribution Requested;” being a volunteer; or considering a position on our Board of Directors.

The Fallbrook Food Pantry is located at 1042 South Mission (P. O. Box 3008) Fallbrook, Calif. 92088-3008. Please come by the Pantry during operating hours (9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday) to see your donation at work.
