Kovsky receives scholarship

FALLBROOK – Nick Kovsky of Fallbrook was recently awarded a 2010 Regional College Scholarship in the amount of $500 from the H.U. Lee Memorial Foundation.

The scholarships are presented annually to outstanding members of the American Taekwondo Association. Kovsky is a first-degree black belt at Kramer’s ATA Black Belt Academy in Bonsall.

Dani Martin, national director of the foundation, said in a letter that Kovsky “should be very proud of this achievement, especially since the applications received this year were among the best ever.”

A recent graduate of Guajome Park Academy in Vista, Kovsky will attend the University of Redlands on a full tuition merit scholarship in September. He plans to pursue a degree in environmental studies. Kovsky also received a $500 scholarship from the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association.
