New resident thanks neighbors

As a new Fallbrook resident, I’d like to thank some of the first people I met here. First, there was the neighbor who loaned me tools when I was trying to put in a new mailbox with a plumbers wrench and a gardening trowel. As it turned out, I didn’t even need them because while I was gone, apparently the mailbox fairies came! And they were packin’ heat (tools). Mailbox was attached, poled and cemented. Thanks, guys.

The other night, my foster dog got out of the yard. Unfortunately it was after 1 a.m., so driving around yelling his name, although necessary, was no doubt annoying to any sleepers in the area. I couldn’t find him so decided to go back home in case he had returned. I’m not sure where I was, but once again, help arrived.

He drove toward me and slowed to a stop. “Looking for a dog?” When the big ole lab next to him heard my voice he started yelping and pushed his 110 pound body through the poor guy’s window, no doubt leaving scratches on skin and paint. I apologize for that part. The dog and I were sound asleep by 2 a.m., safe and happy thanks to this wonderful guy.

If they are representatives of the potential in Fallbrook, I’d say I chose a good place to retire.
