Alley Art Festival to inspire creative minds

VISTA - The Alley Art Festival is coming to Vista for the sixth year, Saturday, June 11, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Green Oak Ranch, 1237 Green Oak Road, Vista.

The festival is a family-friendly, free, one-day event and will feature live entertainment, including music, art demonstrations, a unique “puppet parade,” painting, sculpture, children’s art activities, an artist market, food trucks and more.

Organized by a collaboration of community arts organizations, The Vista Art Foundation and The Backfence Society, this free-to-attend, nonprofit community festival focuses on art appreciation and diversity among North County San Diego art communities, showcasing local, regional and emerging artists.

Visitors can enjoy browsing and connecting with artists, who create through traditional art forms and contemporary styles. Artists will exhibit an array of mediums from contemporary to traditional: kinetic artworks, sculptures, conceptual creations, music, puppetry, paintings, and many other forms of art.

The festival also will host food trucks and an artist market with canvas paintings, jewelry, paper crafts, photography, home decor, ceramics, gift items and other artistic creations available to purchase from vendors.

The family-focused event will have a juried Student Art Show with cash prizes: First place prize is $300, second place is $150, and third place is $50.

(To enter the show, visit https://www.artinvista.org/youth-art-entry-form/ ).

In addition, a children’s arts and craft station will be available to inspire budding artists, where they can create a piece of art to take home with them.

There also will be a puppet parade, featuring participant-crafted giant puppets and cosplayers, open for all to participate.

Always evolving, ever-changing, the festival welcomes any artists, who push the creative envelope, a spokesperson said. All are welcome to participate and share in the inspiration and passion that artists bring to this unique experience in the Vista countryside.

Seize the chance to experience a myriad of art forms up close and create memories with the one-of-a-kind Alley Art Festiva, a spokesperson invited.

Vendors and artists interested in participating in the event can contact the organizer at [email protected] or [email protected]. For more information, visit artinvista.org.
