Velvet Cat Home Tour set for Oct. 18

FALLBROOK — The Fallbrook Woman’s Club encourages residents to save the date of Saturday, October 18, for their sixth annual Velvet Cat Home Tour. They have three unique homes to tour from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. This year’s homes are located near downtown Fallbrook, White Horse Ranch and Champagne Crest.

The smallest of the three homes has been completely redone with beautiful results. Visitors will notice the stained glass panel of ivy and blue flowers by the front door for added light. The master bedroom is tastefully decorated and has a unique wallpaper headboard. The home’s Italian tile floors are easily mistaken for wood.

The kitchen features a custom built-in nook with lots of storage cabinets. Outside the family room, there is a cozy covered patio with various fruit trees, a flowering orchid tree and different strains of roses.

The Tuscan home is a wonderful example of casual California living with beautiful stained concrete floors. The living room has a beautiful rock fireplace and entertainment center. The open dining room and kitchen area can accommodate large groups and open outdoors to an under-the-roof Loggia with fireplace.

The large kitchen has up-to-date appliances, warming drawer, walk-in pantry and a black walnut kitchen island. There is an ornate stove hood over granite countertops and tumbled stone backsplashes with tiny black glass insets.

The third home is custom built in a California Spanish modern style. It features many windows and patios with some Spanish influence through its arched windows, tiled roof and a floor plan designed for easy, casual living. There is an oversized entryway with room to showcase shade-loving plants. Through the windows one can see straight through the house to views of the mountains.

The heart of the home is a large open area that combines family room, kitchen and informal dining areas. Large granite countertops and lots of space make these areas the main gathering place for family and friends.

There are close to 200 commercially producing avocado trees along with many other varieties of fruit trees. The patios provide even more room for entertaining and enjoying the views with the built-in barbecue, fountain and an outdoor fireplace for cool evenings.

For advance ticket sales or more information, call Shirlee Fagan at (760) 728-3866. Tickets are $15 each and may also be purchased the day of the tour at the Fallbrook Woman’s Club, 238 West Mission Road. Tickets are tax-deductible and all proceeds from this tour will benefit the club’s scholarship and philanthropic funds.
