Carissa still needs help

I am writing on behalf of the Fluke-Hardinge family. Months back, in the Village News, there was an article about a wonderful young lady from Fallbrook High. In June of this year, Carissa Fluke, 15, was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia. She was rushed to Rady’s Children’s Hospital.

Carissa underwent every treatment, including intense chemotherapy; nothing was working. In September, the family was told of an experimental treatment in Memphis, TN, at St. Jude’s Hospital. The family was given one day to leave for Memphis, losing just about everything: home, car, job, all income.

Carissa has undergone every treatment at St. Jude’s to no avail. The doctors decided to medivac Carissa and her mother home, back to Rady’s Children’s Hospital to be close to family and friends.

This family has nothing. At this time of giving, please open your hearts and wallets by making donations to Carissa Fluke, c/o Lisa Hardinge, Downey Savings, 1133 S. Mission Rd., Fallbrook, CA 92028. You may send your well wishes to Carissa at Rady’s Children’s Hospital, room 112.

Let’s pull together for the family to let them know we are here for them. If you have any questions, please call me at (760) 695-7465. I know Carissa would want me to say thank you to all.
