Olympian visits high school athletes

FALLBROOK — The Fallbrook High School Warriors field hockey team was proud to welcome Olympic hockey player Tiffany Snow to one of their practices on November 10. Snow competed with the USA Field Hockey team at the Summer Olympics in Beijing.

At the field, the Olympian gave the girls a few pointers and showed them a couple drills.

“It was amazing to see how fast she could move up and down the field. She always had great control of the ball,” said a Fallbrook player.

The team got to scrimmage alongside Snow and see for themselves how quickly they had to move if they wanted to become Olympic contenders.

Not only did the girls get to pick up skills from Snow but they also had the chance to really get to know her.

After being questioned about the Olympics, Snow replied, “Walking in the Opening Ceremonies at the Olympics was absolutely amazing.”

The team also got a true insight into what life is like for an athlete of her status. “It’s almost like you have to put your life on hold, but it’s definitely worth it,” she said.

Snow graduated from San Pasqual High School in 1999 and received a scholarship to play for Old Dominion. She then went on to work as an assistant coach for Boston College and is currently on the national field hockey team.

“I’m happy that the girls got this great visual of Tiffany, especially right before CIF,” said Fallbrook varsity field hockey coach Kathy Waite.
