Ruggers to hold rummage sale Saturday

The Fallbrook Youth Rugby Club will hold a rummage sale Saturday, March 13, at Fallbrook High School’s agriculture department parking lot.

The rummage sale will take place from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m. regardless of weather conditions. All proceeds will be used to fund playoff trips for the under-19 boys team (which also plays as the high school team) and the under-19 girls team.

The Fallbrook Youth Rugby Club fields teams for both club competition and the high school season. The high school team won the Southern California championship and will play for the state championship against the Northern California champion at a date

and Northern California location to be determined.

The Southern California high school championship has also qualified the boys

under-19 team for the national championship tournament May 21-22 in Utah. The under-19 girls team will seek a berth in the national tournament at the state championship tournament in mid-April.

Since the start of the 2007 season, the current under-19 boys have a cumulative high school and club regular-season record of 33-1 as of a 43-5 win over North County March 6 at Fallbrook High School’s stadium. The under-19 girls hosted ICEF of Los Angeles on March 6 and remained undefeated for the season with a 44-0 win.

As of that March 6 date, approximately ten donors had committed items for the rummage sale. The Fallbrook Youth Rugby Club will accept donations through the morning of March 14; potential donors can contact rummage sale chair David Schutte, whose cell phone number is (714) 412-7711.
