FALLBROOK – Fallbrook Music Society’s 32nd season concludes on Sunday, May 16 with Redlands Symphony performing a program entitled A Gershwin Salute, a tribute to George Gershwin. Jose Menor, a young Spanish pianist with a growing international reputation, will join Conductor Jon Robertson and the Orchestra to present Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F Major.
One of America’s greatest composers, Gershwin has captured hearts all over the world with his beautiful melodies, jazz-inspired harmonies and rhythms.
“This Gershwin Salute features some of the best-loved classical pieces of Gershwin’s repertoire, and his compositions spanned both popular and classical genres,” said Brenda Montiel, president of Fallbrook Music Society.
Pianist Jose Menor’s musical talents were recognized in his early teens, when he gained attention as the First Prize winner in consecutive years at the Cincinnati World Piano Competition, youth divisions. He also performed as a winner at Carnegie Hall in New York at the age of 15. As a soloist, he has been awarded several prizes in piano competitions, both nationally and internationally, and as a composer he has had several premieres in Spain.
