Military Appreciation Night set for June 24

BONSALL – Fallbrook Republican Women Federated is sponsoring Military Appreciation Night on June 24 at 6 p.m. at San Luis Rey Downs Golf Club. Local residents are asked to wear red, white and blue, and bring their favorite Marine/Sailor/Soldier/Coast Guardsman/Seal/ Green Beret/ Medic/MP, etc. in uniform if possible, with medals, photos.

Chuck Contreras from Canine Companions for Independence will begin the festivities with Marine Veteran Lance Weir, and his companion Satine, who has an amazing story to share.

Other presenters will include Shirley Fender from “Pray and Play,” a mother and child support group offered by volunteers on Camp Pendleton, and Bonnie Campbell of “Operation Bigs,” a Big Brother/Big Sister program designed for military children. Information will also be provided about the Wounded Warriors Farm here in Fallbrook from Executive Director Ret. Col. Ken Munson, and Board Member Dr. Allan Larner.

The dinner will take place in the San Luis Rey Downs Golf Club Banquet Room at 31474 Golf Club Drive in Bonsall. Admission price of $15 will include a light supper; those who bring a small stuffed animal for the Camp Pendleton’s Chaplain’s “Children in Distress” program will receive a $1 discount off the admission price.
