Gem & Mineral Society to meet Sept. 9

FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook Gem & Mineral Society will meet Thurs., Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. in the meeting room at 123 W. Alvarado St. It is sign up night for new members, so visitors are encouraged to attend.

The evening will begin with a potluck supper, followed by guest speaker Nathan Renfro, staff gemologist at the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad. Renfro will talk about “The Modern Lapidary Artist: Applications and Methods for Cutting Gem Material.”

There will be discussion on past and future fieldtrips and everyone is invited to bring samples of summer finds for “show and tell....
