FALLBROOK — Steve Achard from Fallbrook Village Rotary won the annual Kiss-a-Pig Contest at the Fallbrook Youth Fair. On hands and knees, Achard passed the marshmallow to the obliging pig, Toby. At the time of this writing no other dates were made; so much for romance.

Not to be outdone, the Fallbrook Vintage Car Club paid for a tie. That meant their candidate, John Waugh, on bended knee, also passed off a marshmallow in return for a smooch. Same results – no sparks flew. Next year, maybe gourmet chocolates will be included.

These two men, along with fellow members of their clubs, joined forces with Wanda Jordan, Eastern Star; John Hubert, Reche Club; Patrick Rogers, Fallbrook 4-H; Frank Russell, Fallbrook Food Pantry; and third runner-up, Scott Duffin, Fallbrook Ag Boosters, to participate in the event. They raised money for the Fallbrook 4-H Swine Group and added to the fun and excitement of Youth Fair.

Fallbrook 4-H member Dannika Long has earned her Emerald Star, a leadership award, planning and executing this event. Dannika was mentored by Marilyn McGregor and helped by Taryn Sehnert and Emily Kilcrease in hosting the event.
