Spark arresters required

Improperly used equipment is rapidly becoming a major cause of wildfires in San Diego County. When motorized equipment is used in dry grass or brush, the combination for a devastating wildfire is present.

Always use the recommended grade and mixture of oil and gasoline. Never smoke while refueling or adjusting the engine.

CAL FIRE advises all types of motorized equipment should be maintained with an approved spark arrester. Clean carbon from the spark arrester screen and exhaust before each operation.

Whether operating a chainsaw, lawnmower or dirt bike, it is the operator’s responsibility to comply with fire safety laws.
