Republicans have not learned their lesson

On Monday, November 10, I attended my Republican Party’s review of what went wrong on November 4 and our plans for the future.

I expected suggestions of sweeping changes to our policies and was quite shocked to find out the vast majority of attendees felt that the party’s program over the last eight years was correct – and that the electorate (i.e. the voters) was wrong! Such arrogance!

My party’s base, for the most part, still doesn’t get it. As I see it, we dearly deserved the trouncing we took at the polling stations. We should be changing our “corporate favoring” image to something less extreme.

I came away with the feeling that we have not learned our lesson (certainly not in San Diego County) and that we are doomed to repeat our debacle at the next election. Only then will we begin to put our own selfish interests behind us and begin to put the American people first.
