Research gemologist to discuss inclusions

The Fallbrook Gem & Mineral Society will meet February 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the museum at 123 West Alvarado Street.

Speaker John Koivola, chief research gemologist at the GIA lab in Carlsbad, will discuss “Microviews of Mineral Interiors.”

Photomicrographs of new and unusual inclusions and other micro-characteristics of minerals and related materials will be highlighted in this presentation.

Collectors who have interesting inclusions are welcome to bring them along for discussion. An inclusion is usually bits of material or other crystals enclosed in a crystal.
