Marie Mullin

Marie Mullin, 91, passed away peacefully at her home on February 4, 2009. She is survived by her devoted children John Mullin of Long Beach, Pat Burke of Bonsall, Mary Jane Reynolds of San Diego, Jim Mullin of Miami Beach, FL, Alice Mullin of Vista and Richard and Debra Mullin of Carlsbad; her attentive grandchildren Kristin, Kevin, Jill, Wendy and Erica; and great-grandchildren Joe and Jay. Her husband of 63 years, Joe, preceded her in passing four years ago.

Marie instilled in her family the “can do” spirit that was the heart of her upbringing during hard times in southern Indiana. She demonstrated her love of people by first becoming a registered nurse, by volunteering her time to numerous organizations in Downey, CA, as her family grew up and by energetically hosting huge annual gatherings at her home in the Vista hills.

Marie’s love of community led her to help found the Bonsall Woman’s Club and to campaign for rulings that preserved the old Bonsall Bridge and kept the area rural. She played golf into her 80s, enjoyed her bridge groups and loved her country home. And even though some of us may have given her extra worry lines, she loved each in her family unconditionally.

Donations can be made in Marie’s memory to Bonsall Woman’s Club, PO Box 545, Bonsall, CA 92003; or Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund, 9655 Granite Ridge Dr. #300, San Diego, CA 92123.

Her joyful spirit lives on in her family and she will be dearly missed by all.
