I want to share a story about a movie I watched on Valentine’s Day and how it made me realize how truly blessed I am.
“Marley and Me” is a story about a crazy Lab who has nothing but love to give everyone he meets. I watched the couple struggle with their decision to start a family or make more money in their career and struggle with a dog who is just not your normal dog but has nothing but love to give.
I kissed my old 13-year-old Charlie Brown retriever and he just looked at me like he understood what I was saying. He kissed me back with his stinky breath and went back to sleep.
I have learned through this movie and the grace of God that anything is possible with love. That night I sat with my daughter; it was so comforting to me. My cat brought me a Valentine’s Day present: a dead gopher which she was quite proud of. My 17-year-old son told me he loved me.
Life goes by so fast; this movie taught me to slow down and enjoy each and every moment I can. When it comes to the end of my life, I want to have no regrets. I just want to close my eyes and thank God for all he has given me.
Thank you to the great author who wrote “Marley and Me;” you taught me a big lesson on Valentine’s Day, the day that’s devoted to love.
