FALLBROOK — The Fallbrook High School Drama Department presents the comedy “I Hate Hamlet” by Paul Rudnick this weekend, featuring local drama students from the school and guest resident artist Greg Dehm.
A young and successful television actor relocates to New York, where he rents a marvelous gothic apartment with a well-kept secret. While considering his next TV project, the actor is offered the opportunity to play the role of Hamlet onstage. There’s only one problem: he hates Hamlet! But he is not alone, for the ghost of a previous owner of the apartment, John Barrymore of stage and screen legend, complicates his next career decision.
“It’s a high-spirited ghost of a show,” says director Florene Villane, drama and film instructor and department head at the high school.
“I Hate Hamlet” will be presented on Friday and Saturday, March 27 and 28, at the Bob Burton Performing Arts Center. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the box office, which opens at 7 p.m. both evenings.
