FALLBROOK – The U8 Fury soccer team won the end of the season Presidio Cup Tournament after two weeks of inspired play by beating Oranje Voetbal 2-1 in the tournament finals.
After giving up two goals in the opening game of the tournament, the team came together and didn’t allow a single goal until the second half of the tournament. In total, the Fury team outscored their opponents 13-3.
“The two greatest things about these kids are that they play as a team and they always give their best effort. A coach couldn’t ask for anything more,” said coach Brian Mahoney “It is a special group of players and parents that came together to end the season the best way possible.”
After losing the opening game 2-1 to the Impact, the Fury team beat the Express 4-0, Albion 1-0, DMCV Sharks 5-0 and Oranje Voetbal 2-1.
The team finished the regular season by placing second in the league with a dramatic 4-3 win in the season finale over previously undefeated Arsenal.
Tryouts for next year’s team will be held in early April.
