Reward offered in Vista hit and run case

VISTA – San Diego County Crime Stoppers is joining forces with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Vista detectives to help identify and apprehend the suspect responsible for a recent hit and run in Vista.

On December 28, 2009, at about 9:30 p.m., a 15-year-old male was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the street in the crosswalk at E. Vista Way and Arcadia Avenue. The vehicle was traveling southbound on E. Vista Way and was running the red light at the intersection. The impact of the collision lifted the victim onto the roof of the vehicle. He then rolled off and landed on the ground before being run over. The driver of the vehicle never stopped.

The victim suffered head trauma, a ruptured spleen, a hematoma to his left kidney, a laceration to the left side of his hip and many abrasions.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a black or dark colored SUV or pick-up. The vehicle may have damage to the front hood, bumper, and windshield. There were broken pieces of white plastic at the scene from what may have been a head light or bug deflector.

Investigators are asking anyone with information on the identity of the person responsible for this crime to call the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477.
