Valentine Mae (Teeny) Davis passed away peacefully March 9, 2010 at the age of 88, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born Valentine Soderstrom on February 14, 1922 in Madison, Wisconsin, the second of six children born to Arthur and Nellie Soderstrom. She grew up in Madison and attended the University of Wisconsin. As a young athlete, she was the starting catcher for the Kennedy Dairy Milkmaids, an amateur women’s softball team which won the 1940 state championship. Her college education was cut short by the onset of World War II. She moved to San Diego to support the war effort, working at a military aircraft manufacturing plant where she met Alvin R Davis. She and Al were married in 1945 and relocated to Fallbrook, Calif. where they lived for 54 years.
Valentine is survived by her daughter Priscilla Freeland; son and daughter-in-law John and Cheryl Davis; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
All who knew Teeny will miss her loving heart, generous spirit, boundless energy and beautiful smile.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to: Angel Society of Fallbrook, P.O. Box 1408, Fallbrook, Calif. 92088.
