FALLBROOK – Everyone is invited to a free concert by the Evening Song Choir, an inter-faith choir from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area of Texas. The concert is Friday, June 11 at 7 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Vista Stake Center, 451 West Bobier Dr. in Vista.
Another concert will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 14 at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene, a Roman Catholic church, 1945 Illion St. in San Diego.
The choir will also perform two songs at Sacrament Meeting for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Fallbrook 1st Ward, on Sunday, June 13 at 10:20 a.m. at 621 Stage Coach Lane. A fireside will follow at 7 p.m. that evening in the Vista Stake Center. There will be light refreshments served after the concert in Vista and fireside.
The concert is titled “An American Songbook, Songs of Faith, Hope and Homeland.” Artistic Director David Featherstone put together the works of several composers including classic soul-stirring spirituals such as “Wade in de Water” and “Witness” along with a soothing a cappella version of “Home on the Range.” The choir will also perform “For All Who Have Served,” a prayer for all branches of the military service, composed by Featherstone.
The June 13 fireside will be an audience participation study in which Featherstone and the choir will take the audience on a trip through the LDS hymnal to explain the different kinds, times, and expressions of music.
