Lester M. (Les) Fulcher

Lester M. (Les) Fulcher passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010 in Escondido, California. He was born January 16, 1928 in Stone, Kentucky.

Les attended college in the Bay Area and then joined the Marines in 1947 and was on active duty until 1955. Like many men of his generation, his military service was the defining force in his life and was never forgotten.

In 1955 he was employed by the Stauffer Chemical Co. as a chemical engineer. When the Vietnam War broke out, he re-enlisted to serve his country for another five years, and retired as a Major.

Les was very active in the Fallbrook community. He was a member of the Fallbrook United Methodist Church, Kiwanis Club, V.F.W., Mustangs, and a member of The Chosen Few.

He met and married his beloved wife Elly in 1949 and they were married almost 50 years. She preceded him in death in 1998.

Les will be missed by his family and friends. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and true concern for those he loved.

He is survived by his daughter, Sheillah Sweeney, son-in-law Don Sweeney; sons Philip Fulcher, David Fulcher, and Christoper Fulcher; daughter-in-law Robin Fulcher; granddaughters Lacey Fulcher, Sierra Fulcher and Theresa Riley; and special friend Jeanne Bowyer.

Services will be held Saturday, June 5, at 11:30 a.m. at the Fallbrook United Methodist Church, 1844 Winterhaven Road, with a reception following at the church.
