Nineteen grant awards presented at meeting

FALLBROOK – The board of directors of the Fallbrook Healthcare District presented 19 grant awards at its July 14 meeting to non-profit agencies who deliver services and programs to the residents of the Fallbrook, Bonsall, Rainbow and DeLuz.

The programs and services provided with grant funds include those focusing on medical, dental, vision and mental healthcare, safe and healthy behaviors for youth, nutrition for needy individuals and families, therapies and activities, transportation, advocacy services, alcohol and drug use prevention, and more.

Several of the programs have employees that deliver their services. Many of the programs depend on volunteers to provide their services.

The total amount presented for the grant year 2010-2011 was $506,600 and was the largest amount presented in a single fiscal year by the district. The awarded funds represent approximately 30 percent of the district’s annual budget. Each grant recipient is required to provide periodic reports on their program, and a monitoring system is also in place.
