CHP to step up motorcycle enforcement in North County

OCEANSIDE – The California Highway Patrol will be stepping up Motorcycle enforcement throughout North San Diego County. This will be in addition to the regular shift assignments.

“San Diego County is one of the most beautiful places to ride a motorcycle all year round," Captain Deb Schroder, Commander of the Oceanside Area CHP said. “But we need to insure safety is being practiced out there. That’s why we will be putting out extra officers and specifically targeting motorcyclists."

Schroder added, "Let me make this clear, we are not trying to pick on motorcycle riders. We are trying to reduce collisions resulting from unsafe speed, DUI, following too closely, unsafe lane changes and improper turning. It is dangerous enough for riders in Southern California due to the lack of awareness by other motorists but the riders make it worse when they are reckless and have no regard for safety. Ultimately, our goal is to make the highways and by-ways safe for all motorists.”
